The Bishop Barrington School Sports Centre was built in 2005, and cost £1.6m to complete. It was funded via a New Opportunities bid, in partnership with Wear Valley Sport Action Zone, Wear Valley District Council and Durham County Council. The sports centre includes a dance studio, badminton courts, gymnastics hall, basketball courts, trampolining and table tennis facilities, to name but a few. Outside facilities include floodlit tennis and netball courts, an archery range and football, rugby and cricket pitches. The hall was officially opened in 2007 by His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent.
